Summary

What happens when an unlucky girl meets an undead guy? Pure chaos!

Tired of inadvertently killing people with her special ability Unluck, Fuuko Izumo sets out to end it all。 But when she meets Andy, a man who longs for death but can't die, she finds a reason to live—and he finds someone capable of giving him the death he's been longing for。

All Fuuko wants is a whirlwind romance like the one in her favorite shojo manga。 Unfortunately, her Unluck ability makes that impossible。 But just as Fuuko hits rock bottom, Andy sweeps her off her feet—literally! Now she's become Andy's unwilling test subject as he works to find a way to trigger a stroke of Unluck big enough to kill him for good。 However, when the pair discovers a secret organization is hunting them, it puts Andy's burial plans on hold。

This first volume feels unsure if it wants to be a totally insane super hero romp, a sex farce, or a romantic love story。 And while the tones clash fairly often, the set up (a man who can't die meets up with a woman whose touch and affection creates bad luck and causes others to die) and the quest (he wants her help so he can finally die) are strange enough that it makes the ride mostly worthwhile。 Not as good as other over the top manga I've read this year, and the art is a little too exaggerat This first volume feels unsure if it wants to be a totally insane super hero romp, a sex farce, or a romantic love story。 And while the tones clash fairly often, the set up (a man who can't die meets up with a woman whose touch and affection creates bad luck and causes others to die) and the quest (he wants her help so he can finally die) are strange enough that it makes the ride mostly worthwhile。 Not as good as other over the top manga I've read this year, and the art is a little too exaggerated for my taste, but it was fun。 We'll see where it goes。**Thanks to the artist, publisher, and NetGalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

OK, I really enjoyed this! Undead Unluck reminds me of Beelzebub and it's funny and awesome。 Fuuko's life is hard, since she has the worst of luck (literally)。 If someone touches her (like bare skin), they end up meeting a disaster like no other and well, die。 She's short, looks like a guy and hides under her hat, a perfect geek afraid of life! She ends up meeting Andy, a guy that cannot die because of his regeneration skills and Andy wants to die like no tomorrow。 Thus Andy decides to use Fuuko OK, I really enjoyed this! She ends up meeting Andy, a guy that cannot die because of his regeneration skills and Andy wants to die like no tomorrow。 Thus Andy decides to use Fuuko's ability to find a way to die and this is how our story begins。 An interesting premise and the best part is that Andy regenerates without clothes。 I love seeing his bare ass very often (even if it's pixelized) and how funnily lewd things these two have to do to get contact skin better。 Undead Unluck isn't ecchi or anything, just pure crude humor that's not everyone's cup of tea, but surely mine。The art looks wonky and even ugly at times and it works so amazingly well。 The best part is that this isn't a sexy series, but nasty and awesome。 I'm so happy this has been translated and that I tried it, since the cover isn't the best and cannot convey the awesomeness this series has。 So, thank you VIZ! 。。。more

I've been on a personal manga odyssey, dipping in and out of the humongous manga range on offer, trying to find what I like and don't like。And I've been pretty lucky so far, finding titles that are more or less nuts and/or fun, with some lovely artwork。And then I hit this book。 This one is not for me。 The writing, the characters, the art, everything about Undead Unluck is certainly over the top and crazy, but it also as if it's actively screaming in your face。 Non-stop。It's not badly made, just I've been on a personal manga odyssey, dipping in and out of the humongous manga range on offer, trying to find what I like and don't like。And I've been pretty lucky so far, finding titles that are more or less nuts and/or fun, with some lovely artwork。And then I hit this book。 This one is not for me。 The writing, the characters, the art, everything about Undead Unluck is certainly over the top and crazy, but it also as if it's actively screaming in your face。 Non-stop。It's not badly made, just agressively not for me。(Thanks to VIZ Media for providing me with a review copy through Edelweiss) 。。。more

I received an eARC courtesy of VIZ Media via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review。This began with such promise and then just became a bit dull and unnecessarily repetitive。 Because this was an eARC some of the text was difficult, if not impossible, to read。Content Note for Library collection development: Innuendo, boob silhouette, "ass", censor bars-but nothing is too severe that would make me hesitate to add it to my teen collection-provided the censor bars are in the printed version。 If I received an eARC courtesy of VIZ Media via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review。This began with such promise and then just became a bit dull and unnecessarily repetitive。 Because this was an eARC some of the text was difficult, if not impossible, to read。Content Note for Library collection development: Innuendo, boob silhouette, "ass", censor bars-but nothing is too severe that would make me hesitate to add it to my teen collection-provided the censor bars are in the printed version。 If not, then it depends on the nature of "Andy's" nudity。 。。。more

Thank you Netgalley and VizMedia for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! So this one was a wild ride from start to finish! Undead, Unluck, and (slightly) Unexciting。。。Admittedly, this super-hero/super-villain-esque story has an original twist to the classic individuals with super-powers scene。 I did enjoy the innovation, but won't go into too many details to stay away from spoiler territory。 The main protagonists were somewhat amusing。 I adore the Deadpool-like attitude of Undead, while Unluck has more of a "How did I get myself into this?" frame of mind。 However, I felt that Unluck's personality didn't seem very co Undead, Unluck, and (slightly) Unexciting。。。Admittedly, this super-hero/super-villain-esque story has an original twist to the classic individuals with super-powers scene。 I did enjoy the innovation, but won't go into too many details to stay away from spoiler territory。 The main protagonists were somewhat amusing。 I adore the Deadpool-like attitude of Undead, while Unluck has more of a "How did I get myself into this?" frame of mind。 However, I felt that Unluck's personality didn't seem very consistent throughout this volume; this wishy-washy disposition makes it hard to see any real character development。Finally, as much as there were some exciting moments, and this volume is action-packed, I did not feel any particular affinity for where the plot was going。 The "wow moment" has passed with the introduction of these new original abilities, and now I am left with very little curiosity about how the story will proceed。Special thanks go to the NetGalley team and the publishers for providing this ARC。 I appreciate the opportunity to read it in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Meh。 Started strong, but then got boring towards the middle-end。 Like the concept and I'm hoping we get an explanation has to HOW the UMAs came into being。 Are they all technically mutants, minus the copyright infringement? Undead seems like a weird hybrid of Wolverine and Deadpool, with their worst qualities and no fourth-wall breaking。 Meh。 Started strong, but then got boring towards the middle-end。 Like the concept and I'm hoping we get an explanation has to HOW the UMAs came into being。 Are they all technically mutants, minus the copyright infringement? Dumb fun。 A man who can't die teams up with a woman who wreaks death and destruction on anyone who touches her。 Their motivations are morbidly funny, and I can grudgingly look past the few occasions of gropey humour because the whole premise is so outrageous (but also because there are Plot reasons [however shaky] for it and the tone does feel different and less grubby; we aren't peeking up her skirt for example。 Man, this bar is low。) Dumb fun。 A man who can't die teams up with a woman who wreaks death and destruction on anyone who touches her。 Their motivations are morbidly funny, and I can grudgingly look past the few occasions of gropey humour because the whole premise is so outrageous (but also because there are Plot reasons [however shaky] for it and the tone does feel different and less grubby; we aren't peeking up her skirt for example。 Man, this bar is low。) 。。。more

A girl you can't touch without unluckily suffering。A guy that can't die without regenerating。A match made in heaven。。。。 but not for me。I couldn't get into it。 The story doesn't have enough potential for me。 The characters are flat, and the undead guy is just the usual dumb guy that I know would have a sad backstory arch, but I'm not invested in sticking around for。 A girl you can't touch without unluckily suffering。A guy that can't die without regenerating。A match made in heaven。。。。 but not for me。I couldn't get into it。 The story doesn't have enough potential for me。 The characters are flat, and the undead guy is just the usual dumb guy that I know would have a sad backstory arch, but I'm not invested in sticking around for。 。。。more

Reminded me of Fairy Tail, but on crack lol。 This is a fun series。 The magic system is really cool。 Basically there are people who can negate certain rules of the world。 For example, the main character Andy negates his own death, so whatever happens to his body he just comes back to life。 Other abilities are also cool and I can't wait to see more。 It is also quite humorous。 Because Andy uses his body as a shield and as a weapon, most of the time he gets blown to pieces or some such and then rege Reminded me of Fairy Tail, but on crack lol。 This is a fun series。 The magic system is really cool。 Basically there are people who can negate certain rules of the world。 For example, the main character Andy negates his own death, so whatever happens to his body he just comes back to life。 Other abilities are also cool and I can't wait to see more。 It is also quite humorous。 Because Andy uses his body as a shield and as a weapon, most of the time he gets blown to pieces or some such and then regenerates but has to run around completely naked。 I gave it 4 stars and not 5 because there were times when I was questioning Andy's behavior towards Fuuko, our female protagonist。 I hope that aspect goes away, we'll see。 Thank you to Edelweiss。 + for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

I think this is a good book。 This is a world where the characters have very OP abilities。 The thing that stands out to me is the personality of the MC。 It is similar to Deadpool。 This makes sense because of both of their powers。

4。5A very fun read。 I love how every arc features Andy’s censored unit (he do be packing thou), been missing it these last few chapters。 Other than that, I think I’m attracted to literally everyone, especially the main girl, she’s really cute。 Also oddly enough, I love the world/world building going on here。 It’s brilliant and funny and probably the best thing I’m reading in Jump right now aside from One Piece。

I first read the official English translation back in January when it first came out on an app called “MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA”。 I reread the specific chapters in this volume today, after finding out that it’ll be released in English in Summer 2021。I adore how unique the concept is and how likable both Fuuko and Andy are。 It’s very funny, full of action and overall an enjoyable story to read。 I’m excited for when future volumes get published in English。Also personally speaking, I think the first I first read the official English translation back in January when it first came out on an app called “MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA”。 I reread the specific chapters in this volume today, after finding out that it’ll be released in English in Summer 2021。I adore how unique the concept is and how likable both Fuuko and Andy are。 It’s very funny, full of action and overall an enjoyable story to read。 I’m excited for when future volumes get published in English。Also personally speaking, I think the first chapter is the best in this volume。 。。。more
